Google — a big advertising company that doesn’t advertise — debuted at the Super Bowl Sunday. Their ad tells the story of a romance helped along by a series of Google searches conducted by (one is left to imagine) a young man who finds love after a simple plan to study abroad in Paris turns into love, marriage and a need to know how to assemble a crib.

I see myself through this commercial. My wife is from Moldova, so… I was Google-ing some things too!

Terra TV is an Internet subsidiary of Telefónica de España (Spanish telecommunication company). On their site they have millions of videos regarding humor, music, animals, cars, sports, lifestyle, etc.. But they also have an adult compartment.
And because some youngsters under 18 tend to ‘accidentally’ click on the adult part, Terra TV made this sexy yet annoying interactive video to warn them..

EyeStop Concept – Bus stop from the future

Imagine if your local bus stop allowed you to check your e-mail, share community information on a digital message board or monitor the local air quality? And perhaps best of all, what if it could tell you the exact location of that bus that you’re waiting for? Massachusetts Institute of Technology opens the door to the future with this bus shelter 2.0 named – EyeStop Concept.

The EyeStop is partially covered with touch-sensitive e-INK and screens, and features state-of-the art sensing technologies and a variety of interactive services. Riders can plan a bus trip on an interactive map, surf the Web, monitor their real-time exposure to pollutants and use their mobile devices as an interface with the bus shelter. They can also post ads and community announcements to an electronic bulletin board at the bus stop, enhancing the EyeStop’s functionality as a community gathering space.

In addition to displaying information, the bus stop also acts as an active environmental sensing node, powering itself
through sunlight and collecting real-time information about the surrounding environment.

Unlike the typical mass-produced bus stop, EyeStop is designed to fit the physical characteristics of its surroundings. A computer program generates a unique design for each bus stop, providing both optimal sheltering for users and maximum sunlight exposure for power generation. Simple materials like steel, glass and gray local stone (“pietra serena,” as it is called locally), together with its minimalist design, will help the EyeStop blend into the historic urban fabric of Florence, or wherever else it might be deployed.

EyeStop was developed at the SENSEable City Laboratory by Giovanni de Niederhausern, Shaocong Zhou, Assaf Biderman and Carlo Ratti, in collaboration with the Province of Florence and the local public transportation authority ATAF.

Can’t wait to see this on the streets.

Imagine an umbrella which you don’t need to close every time when you go inside or you need to open every time you go outside. Sometimes you feel that your umbrella is too big or too long or even to heavy for you. With this design one all this problems can be solved.

With this umbrella the barrier between you and the raindrops is a sheet of steady air that is blown out by this hollow pipe. You can control the length of the stick and the size of the air canopy, depending how many friends you are taking with you.

Pretty great.

They are saying that this kind of umbrella is eco-friendly! But what about batteries for this umbrella? Are they eco-friendly?
